Hiking Trails in Kirstenbosch Gardens

Kirstenbosch Gardens offers a variety of hiking trails, each with its unique features and difficulty levels. Here are some of the trails you can explore:

Braille Trail: This easy, short, circular route starts and ends at the Fragrance Garden. It is suitable for unsighted people to walk unassisted, and the plants are labelled with Braille signs.

Boekenhout Trail: Starting at the Old Dam, this trail offers unusual views of the mountain. It can be steep in some places but is generally easy to moderate in difficulty.

Stinkwood Trail: This trail takes you through an area of rehabilitation for the stinkwood species. It’s a pleasant forest walk, look out for pioneer forest trees such as, keurboom, bladdernut and wild peach.

Yellowwood Trail: This moderate trail starts at the Fragrance Garden and follows Skeleton Stream to Skeleton Waterfall, crossing Nursery stream twice.

Silvertree Trail: Starting at Gate 3, this moderate trail crosses the estate via the 300-metre contour path, offering jaw-dropping views.

Nursery Ravine: This is a very steep climb heading straight up Table Mountain. Hundreds of steps will lead you through forest and more rocky areas, ending at Hutchinson Dam.
